Someday I’ll Finish This
Spring 2019 Writing Workshop

Starting Monday, January 21st

“You already know how to tell a moving story because you live one.” – J.K. Rowling

“Writing a poem … is a kind of possible love affair between something like the heart (that courageous but also shy factory of emotion) and the learned skills of the conscious mind. They make appointments with each other, and keep them, and something begins to happen.” – Mary Oliver

If this is the time your soul calls you to write, something not yet started or finished, join a group of eight writers committed to eight meetings to complete a story, a poem, a memoir or a collection that’s been waiting for you.

Every book or chapbook, every piece of writing has its own time and rhythm. They’re big rivers running through us, with their own snags and bad weather and everything else, and to grow and complete a work we need to create a space within us and within a supportive community.

Writers will be asked to complete 10 pages of prose or 5 pages of poetry (new or revised) each month, and to read once every three classes. You can also turn in up to 80 pages of prose, or 40 pages of poetry, for response. Craft talks, with literary excerpts, will be followed by writing exercises. We’ll also hold two three-hour group write-a-thons! to be determined by the group.

Limited to eight on a first-come, first-serve basis. All levels of writers welcome.
